WASTEWATER

Trace works with numerous Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) throughout the State to provide sample collection and analytical data to meet National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit requirements. These permits include a wide range of requirements for many analyses including Metals, Low-Level Mercury, Chlorides, Sulfates, PFAS, Whole Effluent Toxicity Testing, PCBs, SVOCs, VOCs and compatibles that include TSS, BOD, Ammonia and Phosphorus.

Trace assists WWTPs with their routine Maximum Allowable Headworks Load (MAHL) studies to help determine the WWTP’s system capacities. Annually, the WWTP is required to perform Additional Monitoring Requirements which require very low and challenging detection levels. Trace has gone to extra lengths to be able to meet these requirements.

Trace also provides sample collection and analytical data for industries who are part of the WWTP’s Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPPs). These industries are required to self-monitor their wastewater discharge. For many of these clients, Trace provides 24-Hour Composite samplers to collect samples according to permit requirements. Projects are customized in our Lab Information Management System (LIMS) to meet all analytical detection requirements.

Wastewater monitoring is a dynamic program in Michigan and our understanding of permits and our ability for custom reporting makes us adept in handling the needs of our customers.
